WHAT IS PAR CLUB
The primary mission of Par Club is to maintain a safe, family-friendly environment in the Village of Golf. Par Club works to ensure the quality of life for all Village residents.
Before the area now known as the Village of Golf was a public municipality it was a dairy farm. In the early 1950’s Carleton Blunt and a group of investors built the private community called the Country Club of Florida. In addition to the construction of the Club and its golf course, a number of single family homes were also built surrounding the course.
Each time the founders of the Club sold a single family lot, they included language in the deed that gave the Club the right of first purchase whenever the lot was resold. Before any lot was resold to a new buyer, the Club had the right to step in front of that potential buyer and purchase the lot for itself. Because this right is part of the property deed, it remains in effect today for any potential resale.
Soon after it's inception the community became incorporated into the local municipality, the Village of Golf. In the late 1980’s the right of first purchase was transferred from the Country Club of Florida to Par Club, a community-based corporation run by a volunteer board of directors comprised of village residents.
WHAT PAR CLUB DOES
Similar to a condominium association, but with one critical difference
Par Club functions much like a traditional condominium board or homeowner's association. Its main role is to review potential buyers. There is, however, a significant difference between many condo boards, homeowners associations and Par Club. A condo board or homeowner's association often has the power to outright reject a buyer. No entity within the Village including Par Club has that power. While a condominium board or homeowner's association may simply reject a buyer, thus forcing the seller to search for a new buyer, Par Club does not have that authority.
Instead, the authority Par Club has to prevent the sale of a property to a specific party is to step in and purchase the property itself. It does that through exercise of its right of first purchase. This protects the seller from losing a potential sale, while allowing Par Club to safeguard the quality of life in the Village.
